Is it fair to give a pet as a "present"?

Thats sweet but a cat is expensive as you have to take it to the vet every month, vaccinate it, etc and so the husband may not be to fond of it. Its independent but is still needed to be taken care of. Cat is good but there are some downpoints. A budgee wouldn't be too bad or a baby rabbit would be nice as they are quite shy. Hope everything goes well. :) But a kitten/cat is still a good idea. Anyway, whatever you choose, hope it goes well.
