Can you get subsidized housing with a criminal record?

Me and my husband and our 2 kids are trying to get into an apartment complex that our friend lives in and it's subsidized housing. I have a clean record but my husband has multiple misdemeanor drug charges, but hasn't had any charges since 2006.Will we still be able to get it with his criminal history? Thanks
