How can I stop my bulldog from barking in his crate when I am in the room?

He is in his crate too much. He probably needs more exercise. Dogs should only be crated for 8 hour stretches. Crating the dog while you are working that long and then while you are sleeping for 8 hours is probably wearing on the dog. He wants out! See if you can get someone to walk him mid day while you are gone to break up his crate time a little.
