Project for sociology dealing with American values.?

We had to brainstorm a list of 5 American values and the find examples in newspapers, magazines, television, advertisements, and advice columns such as "Dear Abby". For the five values I chose family, honesty, competition, individuality and education and I am having trouble finding examples. So if anyone can think of anything/ knows of any examples off the top of their head please let me know. Thanks
