Staring at handicapped people?

Does anyone see the wrong in smiling at handicapped people and wanting to hug them. Also, do the caregivers deserve a hug and a smile too? Is it a condescending act to feel this way? I am used to working with handicapped adults and children and this is the way we treat them. They love smiles and hugs the same as we do. Any suggestions as to the helping of handicapped people please list them. We will appreciate all comments.
