Would This Lie Be Regarded As A Sin In God's Eyes?

I desperately need to work on an important essay for University and was thinking of calling in sick tomorrow at my weekend job to give me some extra time to work on it. I'm quite a devout Christian, but I don't want to offend God. Do you think he would regard this as sin?
